FRAIA 2007 - Il vino dei 500 anni

88 POINTS

A 80-20 blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, 2007 Fraia shows dark intensity and savory tones of cured meat, tobacco and Indian spice box. Black fruit and prune peel off the nose first. Those aromas are followed by clove, wet earth and bitter chocolate. The structire, ripeness and density of this wine make it appropriate for heavy meat dishes or beef spezzatino con polenta. Drink 2014-2018.

VILLANOVA MALVASIA DOC Isonzo 2012

87 POINTS

The 2012 Friuli Isonzo Malvasia is a fresh, pleasantly fragrant white wine and a great value buy. This is one of those quintessential springtime wines that would taste great as outside temperatures begin to rise. White flower, almond blossom and honeydew melon burst from the glass. The close is spicy and fresh, and I noticed a lingering touch of green olive. Drink 2014-2015
